Community Awards 2018

7th March 18

Canvey Island Town Council organised an awards ceremony as part of its’ Annual Town Meeting and asked residents and councillors to nominate individuals and groups who had made a significant contribution to the quality of life for Canvey Island residents. The awards were established to recognise the efforts of those who work or live in Canvey Island and give up their own time, without any expectation of recognition, under the categories of Citizen of the year and Community Group of the year.
The Town Council received several nominations and, judging proved difficult for the Town Council, however a citizen and a community group proved to be worthwhile recipients of the awards.
In the category of Citizen of the year, Rod and Aileen Bishop were chosen to be the winners of the award. Rod and Aileen volunteer a lot of their own time to help various organisations across Canvey Island, and work tirelessly in supporting initiatives to benefit all residents. The Town Council was very happy to recognise their hard work and hope they continue to do so.
Community group of the year was presented to CISCA House in recognition of the service they offer to the older generation and the wider community. The Town Council was very happy to be able to recognise the social club and support their hard work.
