Essex & Herts Air Ambulance receive grant from Canvey Island Town Council.

Canvey Island Town Council recently awarded £500.00 as part of its’ grants scheme to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Service towards the purchase of a defibrillator to be installed outside their newly opened shop in Canvey Island Town Centre.

Cllr Sheridan Sayes, Town Mayor of Canvey Island Town Council said “Congratulations to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Service on their successful application for grant funding. The Town Council are pleased to be helping an organisation that offers an invaluable emergency service that is vital for those in need. Their commitment to ensuring all have access to a defibrillator through installing one on their shopfront is commendable and it is a pleasure to be able to present this funding to such a worthwhile organisation.”

Leila Clarke, Retail Director for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance said:

“We’re so grateful to the Council for this grant and for its recognition of how important it is to equip the local community with these life-saving devices. Every minute without CPR reduces the chance of survival by 10% making early intervention critical. It’s so important to ensure people have easy access to defibrillators if someone nearby goes into cardiac arrest. We’re so proud that all our charity shops are now fitted with defibrillators”.

Every year the Town Council sets aside money within the budget for grants, aimed to benefit people and projects on Canvey Island. Applications will be considered for financial assistance from organisations towards a specific project, item or activity which is non commercial.
