Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth

Canvey Island Town Council joined over 730 local, national and international organisations in flying the Commonwealth flag on Monday 12th March 2018, as part of Commonwealth Day 2018. Now in its fifth year, “Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth” is an international event that aims to recognise the friendship and co-operation of Commonwealth citizens around the world, by flying the Commonwealth Flag for a period of 24 hours.

 Town Mayor Councillor John Anderson said the Town Council were proud to have joined so many other councils, governing bodies and organisations in flying the Commonwealth flag. Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth allows us to show support and appreciation for the Commonwealth, and the Town Council were happy to be part of this celebration.
