Canvey Island Wildlife Day - Saturday 27th May

24th May 17

The Town Council is working in partnership with the RSPB to hold their Wildlife Day at West Canvey Marsh, Canvey Road, Canvey Island on Saturday, 27th May from 11am to 4pm. Wildlife expert Mike Dilger from the BBC’s The One Show will be the celebrity guest at the event providing walk and talk trails around the marsh to include some of the fascinating insects, wild plants and birds that can be found on Canvey Island. Visitors will be able to join in the den building competition that can be signed up for on the day!

The Town Council will be offering visitors the chance to contribute to making a bug hotel to become a fixture of West Canvey Marsh.

Other activities on the Wildlife Day include pond dipping, bug hunting, pony rides, small animal encounters and other fun activities for families. Many local wildlife and conservation groups will have stalls promoting what they do. Visitors will also be able to see traditional and local arts and crafts with many chances to “have a go” and buy unique, handmade items.

Cllr Martin Tucker, Town Mayor of Canvey Island Town Council said: “This is the eighth year that the Town Council has organised this event in partnership with the RSPB. The Wildlife Day is an excellent event for the whole family to enjoy and learn about the unique wildlife reserves we have on Canvey Island. This year, the Wildlife Day has more attractions and activities than ever before, so bring your friends, family, a picnic, and join in the fun.”
