Keep Safe aims to provide help and support to vulnerable people when they are out and about in Essex Town Centres. The scheme, which is aimed at people with learning disabilities, mental ill health and people over 60 is free to sign up for.
There are in excess of 100 Keep Safe venues across Essex, and by carrying Keep Safe cards and key rings labelled with essential telephone numbers, anyone who feels unwell, unsafe or disorientated can go to a Keep Safe venue and ask for help to contact a family member, friend or carer.
Canvey Island Town Council are pleased to be part of this scheme by offering the use of the Town Council offices at 11 High Street, Canvey Island as a Keep Safe location.
The Keep Safe scheme has already helped more than 2,000 people older people and people with a learning disability in Essex to feel safer in their towns and communities.
