Christmas Festive Fun On Canvey Island

Canvey Island Town Council is holding their annual Christmas event with Lights Switch On Saturday, 26th November in the town centre on Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island. Hosted by Martin Day and Su Harrison from Heart Essex Radio, there will be entertainment on stage from 2pm including Stacey Lee as tribute act Adele and local music and dance.

Local entertainment includes singing from Canvey’s Got Talent winners Nina Smith and Georgia Garrett, Jordan’s School of Irish Dancing, Canvey Community Choir, the ATC Marching Band, dance group Karizma and singing and dancing from finalists of the William Read’s Got Talent Competition.

The Canvey Library and Children’s Centre will be providing stories, songs and activities for the children from 2pm and Images Youth Centre will also be open with a display of their work with young people. Santa will be arriving at 4.30pm with his sleigh for a visit in the town centre.

During the day, there will have a Christmas themed market, a fun fair, street entertainers and the event will finish with the Christmas lights switch on at Canvey Library for 6pm.

The road along Furtherwick Road from Lionel Road to Waarden Road will be closed from 7am until 9pm on Saturday, 26th November for public safety to allow businesses involved to set up and dismantle equipment and during the running of the event.
