On Armed Forces Day hundreds of civic and community events have taken place across the country.
Canvey Island Town Council were delighted to be able to arrange their third Armed Forces Day Parade held on Saturday 25th June 2011. Veterans, Chelsea Pensioners, Ghurkhas, Servicemen and women, and military bands, together with Dignitaries from the Town and Borough and also Canvey Island Youth Organisations marched together in the parade, which was watched by residents from both Canvey Island and neighbouring towns who turned out to show their support.
The parade marched down Furtherwick Road to the Paddocks Community Centre in Long Road, Canvey Island, where a service was held, led by Rev David Pickett and Rev David Tudor, to commemorate those brave men and women who have fought and are still fighting for our country. Following the service a wreath was then laid at the war memorial outside the Paddocks Community Centre and a Civic Reception for parade participants and dignitaries was enjoyed. This was a spectacular day with glorious weather making it the perfect tribute to all our serving and ex members of the Armed Forces.
Canvey Town Council would like to thank all who gave their time and Support to this great day especially to
